Dorset Road Infant School - 125th Anniversary
The School celebrated its 125th anniversary on Wednesday 11th July 2018. The school has played a vital role in the heart of the village since 1893.
Children and staff celebrated the day by dressing up in Victorian costume, teaching the children in formal classrooms with single rows of desks, and using slate and chalk to record. The children were taught about ‘a day in the life of a Victorian school child’ and they soon decided that they were very happy to be born in this century!
Lunch was celebrated with a picnic style lunch, with Victoria Sponge added for a treat!
The children continued to celebrate across the school by taking part in Maypole workshops and performing a maypole dance for their parents at the end of the school day!
