'High Standards on a Small Scale’
Dorset Road Infant School is a one form entry Infant school, situated in the centre of Mottingham Village in the London Borough of Bromley, with capacity for 30 children in each year group.
We have long been established in the heart of the local community and pride ourselves on being able to enable all children to achieve well academically, personally and socially. At Dorset Road, we believe that children learn best when they feel safe and enjoy what they do. Our children are positive and enthusiastic learners who love a challenge and our staff are committed, creative and supportive. Our pupils have opportunities to learn through a wide range of educational visits and events. There is a shared drive to constantly review, improve and enrich our curriculum to ensure learning is relevant and exciting for all pupils. We are committed to ensuring a high staff/pupil ratio and to meeting the needs of all pupils. We have 3 classes each with a teacher, and experienced support staff.
The children’s learning takes place in a variety of ways, in ability groups, mixed ability groups, whole class and sometimes individually and through personalised learning. We place a strong emphasis on children learning collaboratively, with a focus on development of speaking, listening and thinking skills throughout. We actively encourage our pupils to discuss learning and share their thoughts and opinions.
Since joining the Spring Partnership Trust in September 2016, we are now able to offer our Year 2 children a guaranteed Year 3 place at our feeder school, Castlecombe Primary School. Dorset Road Infant School is committed to supporting the Spring Partnership Trust vision where ‘every child receives an outstanding education through relentless focus on excellence in teaching and learning, leadership and pastoral care.’
